Tate McRae is a Canadian singer, songwriter, and dancer who made her mark as a multi-talented artist with a versatile career in both music and dance. Born in Calgary, Alberta, she first gained attention as a dancer, competing on So You Think You Can Dance: The Next Generation in 2016, where she finished as a finalist! McRae's dance career also included prestigious events and collaborations, where she showed off her technical skill and expressive movement.
McRae’s musical journey started to take center stage in 2017 when she shared her original songs on YouTube. Her introspective lyrics and raw vocals stood out and impressed viewers. But, her breakout moment came in 2020 with the release of "You Broke Me First," a global hit that peaked at #17 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song's themes of heartbreak and resilience resonated with millions, providing a platform for her next project.
Her debut EP, All the Things I Never Said (2020), and subsequent projects such as Too Young to Be Sad (2021), I Used To Think I Could Fly (2022), and Think Later (2023) further established her as a strong storyteller for her generation. These albums supported charting singles, sold-out tours, and a rapidly expanding discography - she's not slowing down! McRae's talent for dance, as well as vulnerable songwriting has some calling her "the teen dance star turned future pop idol."

Tate McRae has also made a mark as a live performer, naming Bruno Mars, Madonna, Jennifer Lopez, and Justin Timberlake as influences for featuring dance in her shows. She calls Post Malone, the Weeknd, Khalid, Jessie Reyez, Ariana Grande, and Jeremy Zucker her primary musical influences. She has made many brand partnerships with companies like Maybelline and SKIMS, showing her influence not just in the world of music, but as a celebrity. In 2024, she began a relationship with another rising star, Kid Laroi. McRae is a fan of the NHL's Calgary Flames and has been spotted at many games.
Blending her passions for music and dance, Tate McRae continues to grow as an artist, captivating fans with her authenticity and creativity. Her prolific production has no end in sight, with her third studio album, So Close To What scheduled to release in early 2025. We can't wait to hear it!
