"Someone pour me up a double shot of whiskey..." I'm sure you've heard those lyrics before. That's "A Bar Song (Tipsy)" by American musician Shaboozey. Born in Virginia to Nigerian parents as Collins Obinna Chibueze, his stage name comes from a mispronunciation of "Chibueze," creating "Shaboozey."

His smash hit of the summer, "A Bar Song (Tipsy)" spent 14 weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100 charts. Perhaps more impressively, it topped the Canadian charts for 20 weeks, setting an all-time record for the #1 position. But how did Shaboozey make a name for himself?

In 2018, Shaboozey released "Start a Riot," which made it onto the soundtrack of Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse. He dropped two albums to minimal public reception, Lady Wrangler in 2018, and Cowboys Live Forever, Outlaws Never Die in 2022. Two years later, he collaborated with Beyoncé on her country album, Cowboy Carter, working on two of its songs. Now that's networking with a star!

Later in 2024, Shaboozey released "A Bar Song (Tipsy)" as a single ahead of his third studio album, Where I've Been, Isn't Where I'm Going. The song won the People's Choice Country Awards prize for"New Artist Song of 2024." He has amassed 1 million followers on Instagram, carving out a niche in the popular country genre.

Shaboozey calls the Rolling Stones, Grateful Dead, Bob Dylan, and Led Zeppelin his biggest music influences. He enjoys mixing genres in his music, blending hip hop, country, rock, and Americana. We're rooting for more chart-topping hits from Shaboozey, and we can't wait to see where he goes next!
